PokerStars Caribbean Adventure with lots of fish
Posted on November 26, 2010 by Harry G.
The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be hosting one of the most unique events in poker this January when they kick off the “Fish and Chips Showdown.” For the first time, the worlds of fishing and poker will combine to provide players a rare chance to both a fisherman and a fisher or men.
Kicks off January 6th
The two day event will kick off on January 6th, 2011 at 7 a.m. at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Players will fish the Paradise Island Marina for six-and-one-half-hours and then return to have their catches weighed. This will then be followed by a NL Holdem tournament. The Atlantis Resort poker room is considered one of the best according to several poker room comparison sites. The tournament will play to the final table and the final table will return on January 7th at 1 p.m. to play to a winner. At 9 p.m. that evening, there will be a party held where the overall winner will be determined.
The winner will be determined in a formula that is 1/3 fishing and 2/3 poker. The event buy-in will be $2,300 with $400 going for the fishing tournament, $900 going towards the poker tournament prize pool, and $1,000 going to the overall winner prize pool. Chris Moneymaker will be among those at the event and said, “I jumped at the chance to play such an unusual and unique event. Most poker tournaments take place indoors, which is fine, but I can’t imagine a better way to enjoy paradise than to go fishing on the Caribbean Sea and follow that with poker action at the tables.”
IFGA rules
The fishing tournament will be held under IFGA rules and players may use no more than six poles in the event. They must also provide all of their own bait. For more about this event, head over to PokerStars’ website, home of some of the best poker freerolls.
